Altea is located south of Calpe and about 15 kilometres north of Benidorm. This makes it a great location to live or visit. Altea has a quiet charm yet is close to bigger more vibrant towns with good shopping and nightlife. You can see from the map other towns nearby include: La Nucia, Polop, Callosa d’En Sarria, Albir and Alfaz del Pi.

The Altea map also shows the many large urbanisations just outside of the town of Altea, these include Horizonte, Urbanisation la Foia Blanca, Urbanisation Santa Clara, Urbanisation El Paraiso, Altea Hills, Altea La Vella, Urbanisation Sierra Altea, Urbanisation Tossal del Molar, Urbanisation Villa Gadea, L’Olla, La Galera, Urbanisation Jardines Alhama and Pueblo Mascarat.

To get to Altea you can fly into Alicante airport, Valencia airport or Murcia airport.

Altea has many businesses and companies providing services to the many expatriates who now live in Altea – good news if you’re looking for a job in the area because these expatriates or expats as they are commonly known prefer to deal with people in their native language. So if you are an English-speaker in Altea Spain, you will find job opportunities despite your limited Spanish.

Altea is famous for the landmark church of Nuestra Senora del Consuelo or Virgen de Consuelo with its fantastic looking blue roof. This is set up on a hill and can be seen for miles around. The old town part of Altea is set on a steep hillside and the streets are littered with small designer shops and is popular with artists. Amongst the narrow streets with their scenic white houses, orange trees and geraniums you’ll find painters, potters and many other traditional craftsmen’s studios. There is a real authentic Spanish feel to Altea town, often missing from others on the coast.

The harbor and marina of Altea are also noteworthy. It is very pretty and scenic and a great place to eat or drink. The beach of Altea is over 5 km long and is divided into the stoney Cap Negret beach to the north of Altea, followed by the La Roda beach next to the old town and the largest beach the Cap Blanc to the south which blends into the coast of Albir.

Along Altea’s yacht harbor you will find the beaches of Pueblo Macarat.

Altea is surrounded by mountains making it is a very scenic place. The Sierra de Bernia reaches up to 1130 metres. Altea Hills is one of the most expensive, if not the most expensive place to buy property on the Costa Blanca.

TYPES OF JOB VACANCIES IN ALTEA

As Altea is a popular tourist destination on the Costa del Sol in Spain you will find many openings and and job vacancies in the catering trades such as for cooks, waiters, waitresses, dishwashers, bar jobs, hotel jobs, drivers etc. Of course many of these jobs are seasonal in nature and are best for people searching for summer jobs in Altea.

Bar jobs in Altea are the most common type of job available. The tourist season here runs from April through to the end of September. These jobs are very popular because only a limited knowledge of Spanish is all that is usually required. Unfortunately many of these jobs will be only available on a part-time basis.

There are good possibilities for finding jobs for property lettings and sales will grow increasingly you will need to be fluent in a number of different languages and of course many of these sales jobs are paid on a commission basis.
