ABOUT MOJACAR
Mojacar on the Costa de Almeria is made up of two very different parts; the traditional hilltop village of Mojacar Pueblo and the modern beach resort of Mojacar Playa.
The traditional village of Mojacar Pueblo is certainly not where you’re going to find work and jobs however if you are going to live in this area then at least you can appreciate the pretty village which is very traditional and comes with steep, narrow streets with white washed houses.
On the positive side, at least with Mojacar Pueblo being very much a tourist attraction, this does create more possibilities for jobs in the surrounding area such as in hotels and bars.
Mojacar really became well known as a tourist destination from the 1960s when many artists and writers began to live here. The resort of Mojacar Playa still retains much of the influence of culture from these people despite it being an extremely popular beach resort.
Mojacar Playa is full of the usual facilities and amenities that you would expect from a holiday resort. There is a wide range of restaurants offering different types of cuisine such as Chinese, Mexican, Indian, English and of course traditional Spanish.
There there are plenty of discos, clubs, bars and pubs which offer the best opportunities for jobs for English-speaking people.
Mojacar has a large British and Irish expat community and so there are plenty of British themed bars and pubs. Mojacar Playa also has a commercial centre with shops, restaurants, banks, supermarket and medical centre. The tourist information centre is situated opposite the shops.

LIVING AND WORKING IN MOJACAR
When you are looking for jobs in Mojacar you also need to consider other factors apart from things such as working conditions and rates of pay, such as:
Is Mojacar one of the best areas to move to in Spain?
What is the quality-of-life like living in Mojacar?
What is the cost of living like in Mojacar?
There are definite pros and cons of living and working in Mojacar.
Mojacar is a beautiful area with clean sandy beaches and many amenities and facilities. In terms of quality of life Mojacar is certainly a great place to live and work.
The size of the resort does mean there are good opportunities for your typical tourist related jobs in bars, pubs, restaurants, hotels etc. however Mojacar is not the biggest town and this is where the disadvantages come into play.
There is very much a limited opportunity for jobs outside the tourist sector for example your health care jobs, professional jobs etc.
Being such a small town you may find yourself very much limited by employment opportunities. If for example you go to the big cities and towns in Spain such as Malaga and Alicante you will have far more choice and variety in seeking out jobs and work.
It’s also a question of lifestyle too. Mojacar is a lovely laid-back beach resort and that will suit many people who are looking to escape the hustle and bustle of modern day life. Being such a small place it does mean that everybody will tend to know each other and so you may find the gossipy nature of Mojacar where everybody knows each others business and scandals somewhat tiresome after awhile.
For alternatives look to the smaller and quieter resort nearby for jobs in Garrucha. which is part of our main section on Costa Almeria jobs.
